Tucson 2014 February 19, 2014 · 7 specimens There was a relative abundance of Tsavorite at the show this year due to a couple good pockets hit in mid to late 2013. While the color was not tip top, the crystals had great form and great glassy luster. Most noteworthy was the limited amount of clusters and also the perfect floater single crystals, which are also uncommon. I selected this batch for associated minerals, matrix specimens, or floater singles. |
TZ308 - Tsavorite sold
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
Thumbnail - 1.4 x 1 x 1 cm
Complete, gemmy green grossular crystal. As is typical of the recent 2013 production, this crystal has great glassy luster, is medium green in color, and has Graphite inclusions. What was also typical for these finds was groups of crystal clusters, and this specimen had some other crystals attached formerly and has four small indentations on a couple faces where other intergrew and a little bit of damage next to the contacts. This is minor though and overall this is a great crystal.

Amazing elongated Tsavorite crystal with wild morphology. On top of that, it has top color, is undamaged, and is of gem quality. It is admittedly costly for a small crystal, but it was expensive to buy and just so cool and different. Never seen one like it.
