T596 - Heliodor sold
Volodarsk-Volynskii, Ukraine
Small Cabinet - 8.8 x 3 x 3 cm
Etched single crystal with good etch marks all around and strong yellow color. These are no longer being found and usually can only be obtained when they are released from private collections. Internally all gem with great luster, weighs 82 grams. Complete all around.
T598 - Rhodochrosite, Pyrite sold
Oppu Mine, Aomori Prefecture, Honshu Island, Japan
Cabinet - 12 x 5.8 x 2.5 cm
Rolling mounds of bubbly pink Rhodochrosite over Pyrite over Sphalerite. This is old material rarely seen now from the classic and famous Oppu Mine. A gorgeous display specimen with no damage.
T599 - Bournonite with Quartz sold
Herodsfoot Mine, Liskeard District, Cornwall, England
Cabinet - 10.5 x 7 x 5 cm
Bournonite 'cogwheels' to 3.5cm in size on sparklying white Quartz crystals. These are rare English classics mined in the mid to late 1800s. There are a number of good crystals here mixed in among the Quartz, which itself is very bright and showy. There is some contact/damage on the backside, but can be displayed without much, if any, showing. A rare classic that is also aesthetic, with the Bournonite crystals well separated and evenly dispersed across the width of the specimen.
T601 - Dioptase on Chrysocolla over Cerussite sold
Sanda Mine, Mindouli, Congo
Thumbnail - 2.5 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm
Old specimen composed of a reticulated 'snowflake' of Cerussite that has been coated by Chrysocolla with Dioptase crystals attached to one side. All the Dioptase aren't in perfect condition, but I think it displays best from the side without the Dioptase anyways. This was recently released from a collection and I've never seen one like it before. The label notes that it was purchased from John Seibel in 1997. A rare and unusual thumbnail!
T602 - Rhodochrosite with Fluorite sold
American Tunnel, Silverton, Colorado
Miniature - 4.2 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm
Rhodochrosite crystals on clear Fluorite. The Fluorite has great luster and has small step faces modifying the main octahedral form. This is a floater specimen crystallized all around. Super pretty and undamaged.
T604 - Benitoite sold
Gem Mine, San Benito Co., California, USA
Thumbnail - 3.1 x 3 x 2 cm
Large single Benitoite crystal on matrix. Though not perfect, the crystal is an impressive 3.1cm wide and has deep blue color. Nicely crystallized, even on the backside faces.
T605 - Tourmaline sold
Pederniera Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Miniature - 3.5 x 1.6 x 1.5 cm
Single glassy Tourmaline crystal with top top color!! The core is a well saturated raspberry color, followed by a more transparent greenish color, and finally capped by a thin bright blue zone (what color!!!). The termination face has mirror luster. Weighs 18.6 grams.
T606 - Tourmaline sold
Virgem da Lapa, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Miniature - 4 x 2.2 x 2 cm
Single glassy Tourmaline crystal with an uncommon coloration. The lower portion is a gemmy blue color, followed by green, then red, and finally capped by a thin yellow/orange zone. Complete all around and undamaged. Weighs 35.3 grams.
T607 - Dioptase in Quartz sold
Kaokaveld, Namibia
Miniature - 4.7 x 3.0 x 3 cm
Rare specimen of Dioptase crystals included in Quartz. These are not often seen and it's the only one I've ever owned. There were a handful of specimens from the Congo with slightly bigger Quartz crystals and included Dioptase crystals that sold in the $25K-$35K range. In this specimen, the Dioptase crystals settled on an earlier generation of yellow colored Quartz (which I understand is caused by Sulfur).
T608 - Tourmaline sold
Chia Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Miniature - 3.7 x 1.3 x 1 cm
Multi-colored Tourmaline crystal with shades of red and green. It has the appearance of a larger crystal that has grown atop, and at a slightly different angle, to a smaller crystal, or it may be that the bottom of the larger crystal partially etched away and later recrystalized. In any case, it's a beautiful piece that is mostly double-terminated, and complete all around.
T609 - Quartz with inclusions sold
Virgem da Lapa. Minas Gerais, Brazil
Miniature - 4.5 x 2.2 x 1.8 cm
Fine quality, complete Quartz crystal with both moss-like, yellow inclusions and brown needle-shaped inclusions. A very slight nick on the termination otherwise undamaged. The old label has a note that it was purchased from the Fraziers back in 1988.
T610 - Fluorite on Celestite sold
Clay Center, Ohio, USA
Small Cabinet - 6.3 x 3.8 x 2.5 cm
This is one of the most aesthetic Clay Center Fluorites I've ever seen. It features a 6.3cm single Celestite crystal with an attached 3.1cm cube of phantomed Fluorite. The Fluorite cube is complete and has good luster and only a couple tiny, trivial nicks.
T612 - Malachite after Barite covered by Quartz sold
Katanga, Congo
Small Cabinet - 9 x 7 x 7 cm
Tall, upright crystals of Malachite after Barite covered with drusy Quartz. The Malachite is tabular and rectangular in shape and clearly visible when backlit. A couple of the crystals are broken off revealing the green Malachite within. This was a one off specimen found in a parcel of Malachite, and I've never seen a similar one.
T616 - Aragonite sold
Minglanilla Mine, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain
Miniature - 4.5 x 4 x 3.7 cm
These purple Aragonite crystals are fairly common, but I've never seen one quite like this. The main crystal is somewhat doughnut-shaped with other crystals stuffed in the middle, a real oddity. With good luster and the typical purple coloration.
T617 - Barite sold
Frizington, Cumberland, England
Small Cabinet - 6 x 4.7 x 1.5 cm
A beautiful textbook single Barite crystal from the classic locality of Frizington. Light blue and glassy, partially double terminated, with an outstanding transparent zone at the tip. It's in amazing condition for it's age (likely mined in the 1800s), with only the slightest amount of edge wear.
T618 - Molybdenite sold
Crown Point Mine, Chelan County, Washington, USA
Small Cabinet - 5.7 x 4 x 1.5 cm
Well formed large crystal of Molybdenite from a not so well know USA locality for the species. Sharply formed crystal faces and striated, beveled edges, which are not commonly seen in Molybdenite crystals.
T619 - Tsavorite with Calcite on Graphite sold
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
Miniature - 5 x 2.3 x 2 cm
An uncommon matrix Tsavorite specimen with large gemmy crystals associated with Calcite on Graphite. The two largest crystals are each about 1.7cm wide. The crystals are very gemmy, good sized, and on matrix. The white Calcite crystals provide nice color contrast too. There is significant gem value to the crystals, possibly more valuble than my asking price. The central crystal has a facet grade gem area that is 13 x 10 x 7mm. Large gem quality Tsavorites are hard to find, especially on matrix.
T620 - Tsavorite with Diopside on Graphite sold
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
Thumbnail - 1.9 x 1.8 x 1.6 cm
A stunning thumbnail sized specimen of Tsavorite with Diopside on Graphite. The largest Tsavorite is 1.3cm wide with top green color. Nearly a floater that is well crystallized all around. An uncommonly good piece, I give this one high marks!!!
T621 - Oil in Quartz sold
Zhob, Balochistan, Pakistan
Miniature - 3.5 x 2.8 x 2.3 cm
Double terminated Quartz crystals in a cluster with inclusions of black carbon and yellow oil. These have been found for a few years now, but usually as single crystals in the 0.5 to 1.5cm size range. This specimen is unusual in that it has large individual crystals (to 2.6cm) and is in a floater cluster with no points of attachment, and it's undamaged.
T622 - Oil in Quartz sold
Zhob, Balochistan, Pakistan
Miniature - 4.1 x 2.2 x 2 cm
Double terminated Quartz crystals in a cluster with inclusions of black carbon and yellow oil. These have been found for a few years now, but usually as single crystals in the 0.5 to 1.5cm size range. This specimen is unusual in that it has large individual crystals (to 2.8cm) and is in a cluster. The largest crystal is contacted on the backside, otherwise undamaged.
T623 - Oil in Quartz sold
Zhob, Balochistan, Pakistan
Thumbnail - 2 x 2 x 1.5 cm
Double terminated Quartz crystals in a cluster with inclusions of black carbon and yellow oil. These have been found for a few years now, but usually as single crystals in the 0.5 to 1.5cm size range. This specimen is unusual in that it has large individual crystals (to 2.1cm) and is in a floater cluster with no points of attachment, and it's undamaged.
