K839 - Titanite with Tsavorite on Calcite sold
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
Thumbnail - 3 x 2.5 x 2 cm
A 2.2cm Titanite (Sphene) crystal standing on edge atop Calcite crystals that are in turn sprinkled with small green Tsavorite crystals. Titanite is uncommon at Merelani and this is a superb display example that would make a great addition to a Merelani suite. Undamaged and displays well from many angles.
K836 - Pyrite on Prehnite sold
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
Miniature - 3.4 x 2.5 x 2 cm
A 1.4cm mirror-lustrous Pyrite crystal set in yellow Prehnite crystals. I don't recall ever seeing one like this (Pyrite in Prehnite). Neither mineral is rare at the Merelani Tanzanite mines, but I've never seen them together like this. A stunner.

K796 - Pyrite sold
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
Small Cabinet - 6 x 5.2 x 3.5 cm
Large, somewhat flat single Pyrite crystal with large, flat faces and incredible luster. The exotic crystal forms and high luster of Merelani Pyrite make it my favorite of any Pyrite found. This is a good example atop a small amount of Calcite and Graphite.

K772 - Tanzanite sold
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
Thumbnail - 1.5 x 0.8 x 0.4 cm
Single 'Cobalt Blue' Tanzanite crystal from a small recent find. Of all my many years of selling Tanzanite I have never seen this color, a deep almost silky blue that reminds me of Kashmir Sapphire, hard to capture on camera. Only about 50 crystals were found and none very large. Clean and undamaged.

Thumbnail - 1.7 x 1 x 0.8 cm
Complete twinned single Sphalerite of high quality. Undamaged with just a bit of roughness at the base where it was attached to Graphite. Clean and undamaged. Translucent red when backlit. Uncommonly good Merelani Sphalerite.
K794 - Alabandite sold
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
Small Cabinet - 8.5 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm
Large, undamaged octahedral Alabandite crystal with a minor amount of attached Pyrite. Compound crystal with clean, smooth faces and some stepped and cavernous growth structures on the sides. This is a big crystal that not only has size but also fine quality. These are considered by many as the best of species and are certainly the largest ever found. A crystal like this would have sold in several thousands of dollars when they were first found. Prices have come down since the initial find, but this is still a great price for a crystal like this.

Thumbnail - 1.1 x 1 x 0.8 cm
Glassy single Tsavorite with great transparency. This is a rare floater with all crystal faces present. But for the included Graphite, this would be a fully transparent facet-quality gem crystal. The crystal faces are glassy and smooth with just a few surface irregularities caused by the Graphite. Nice crystal!
