LL840 - Copper on Mine Timbers sold
Ray Mine, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA
Small Cabinet - 8 x 7.5 x 7 cm
Masses of solid Copper intergrown with mine timbers (wood). This is a post mining occurrence formed when Copper precipitated out of solution in an old underground portion of the mine. This specimen was found in 1997 when work in the ASARCO open pit intersected with old underground workings. Fascinating combination of miner and nature, an interesting conversation piece.
LL874 - Cyanotrichite on Chalcoalumite sold
Grandview Mine, Grand Canyon, Coconino Co., Arizona, USA
Small Cabinet - 8 x 6 x 4 cm
Beautiful bright blue spherical clusters of Cyanotrichite on light blue/green Chalcoalumite. These specimens are very hard to come by now as the locality is now part of Grand Canyon National Park. This old copper mine began operation in 1892, stopped operation around 1907, and became a part of the national park system in 1940. The specimen is likely over 100 years old!
LL875 - Cyanotrichite with Brochantite sold
Grandview Mine, Grand Canyon, Coconino Co., Arizona, USA
Small Cabinet - 8 x 6 x 4 cm
Beautiful bright blue spherical clusters of Cyanotrichite, dark green Brochantite, and light blue/green Chalcoalumite. Good crystals on all sides of specimen. These specimens are very hard to come by now as the locality is now part of Grand Canyon National Park. This old copper mine began operation in 1892, stopped operation around 1907, and became a part of the national park system in 1940. The specimen is likely over 100 years old!
LL843 - Tourmaline on Lepidolite sold
Golconda Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil

A 4.5cm gem Tourmaline crystal atop purple Lepidolite. The Tourmaline is a beautiful green color, perfectly terminated, and undamaged with very slight etching in areas. There are also micro Tourmaline crystals and some Albite attached to the Lepidolite cluster (which is a complete floater with no points of attachment). A classic, stunning Brazilian matrix Tourmaline specimen.

Lancaster, Worcester Co., Massachusetts, USA
Small Cabinet - 7.5 x 1.8 x 1.5 cm
Long single crystal of Andalusite, cut and polished on one end to show the cross-formation known as chiastolite. Most of the time these are cut up into slices and having a complete long crystal is rare.

Dry Gill Mine, Caldbeck, Allerdale, Cumbria, England
Small Cabinet - 8.3 x 5 x 4 cm
Spherical clusters of yellow Mimetite var. Campylite on matrix of Quartz coated by black manganese oxides, which provide a nice contrast to the yellow Campylite. The main crystal is perfect and exceptionally large at 1.5cm wide. An old specimen from early workings at the mine. An antique, hand written label from the Paris Natural History Museum that came with the specimen shows a date of 1906.

Thumbnail - 1.6 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm
Exquisite cluster of silvery Stephanite crystals with attached Pyrite. There are 4 main crystals in the cluster, the largest 1cm on the diagonal. This is a floater group with no contacts, perfect and undamaged. A rare, superb Silver mineral, better than photos.
LL22 - Aquamarine with Quartz sold
California Blue Mine, Yucca Valley, Riverside Co., California, USA
Miniature - 4.7 x 4 x 3.5 cm
Gem quality 3.5cm Aquamarine crystal on Albite with Smokey Quartz. This locality has produced some of California's best ever Aquamarine specimens and this is a good one and a less common matrix specimen for the find. It's a pristine floater, crystallized all around (even the bottom shows Quartz crystal faces). The Aqua has etched terminations on each end and is transparent. I was told by a gem dealer familiar with this material that this one is especially good for cutting compared to most which have internal veils, and this one has approximately $1200 in cutting value alone. Clearly a major matrix Aquamarine from the state of California.
