Tim Sherburn Irish Minerals - Part III April 22, 2020 · 4 specimens Update #3 of the Tim Sherburn collection of minerals from Ireland. Tim is based in southern California and has been collecting minerals from Ireland, which are not commonly available and hard to track down, since 1995. Many of Tim's specimens came from Robert Lawson (owner of Moorland Minerals), Stephen Moreton (a collecting partner of Robert Lawson), and David Green (the editor for the UK Journal of Mines & Minerals). I have one more update of minerals to be posted later. |
SV553 - Apophyllite sold
Clinty Quarry, Ballymena, Co. Antim, Ireland
Miniature - 5 x 4.5 x 4 cm
Tabular white Apophyllite crystal 2.5cm wide on a basalt matrix coated by Thompsonite or Gyrolite. The Apophyllite has slight color zoning with a thin yellow/brown layer on the outer edges. Ex. Paul Nicholson, Tim Sherburn collections with labels.

Shallow Adit, Old Luganure mine, Camaderry, Glendasan, Co. Wicklow, Ireland
Miniature - 4 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm
Green Pyromorphite crystals that stand out well against a white Quartz matrix. Mixed sized crystals with larger crystals to 4mm in size. Ex. David Green, Tim Sherburn collections.

Miniature - 4.7 x 2.5 x 2 cm
White Rauenthalite crystals on matrix. Rauenthalite is an uncommon arsenate mineral with the formula Ca3(AsO4)2•10(H2O). Ex. Tim Sherburn collection. Comes with a few old labels.
