Ludlamite with Siderite Ludlamite with Siderite Ludlamite with Siderite

Gemmy, sharp green crystals of Ludlamite over Siderite from the famous Blackbird Mine in Idaho. The Ludlamite form abundant sharp and bright green crystals liberally sprinkled across a surface of botryoidal Siderite. This is old, classic USA material from a defunct cobalt mine that produced some of the world's best Ludlamite. The specimen is from the collection of Don Boyston of Los Angeles, California. I purchased this in 2005 when his collection was sold. Don had a number of Blackbird Ludlamites in the collection - this was my favorite and I've held onto it all this time.

Rhodochrosite Rhodochrosite Rhodochrosite Rhodochrosite

Cluster of cherry-red, transparent Rhodochrosite crystals. The color and transparency are superb. There are some smaller cleaved crystals on the edges, but the main crystal is perfect and transparent all the way to the base. In fact looking at this there is quite a bit of cutting rough value.

Azurite Azurite Azurite

Fine quality cluster of translucent Azurite crystals from the Volborthite pocket of the Milpillas Mine. The Azurite from this area of the mine are distinctive tabular crystals that occur on a white matrix with spheres of Malachite. The crystals on this specimen reach 2.2cm wide and are in pristine condition. Highly translucent with backlighting and even in regular lighting you can see a blue glow on the white matrix from light passing through the crystals.

Azurite Azurite Azurite

Robust cluster of thick, doubly-terminated Azurite crystals from the Milpillas Mine. There are some bits of matrix attached to the crystals on back, but this is essentially a floater cluster of nothing but intergrown Azurite crystals. Highly showy example from this prolific Azurite locality that is no longer producing.

MK681 - Apatite  sold

Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
Thumbnail - 2.5 x 1.2 x 0.5 cm

Apatite Apatite Apatite

Single blue Apatite crystal of exceptional size and quality from the Merelani Tanzanite mines. This is a complete, gem quality crystal with a steep, multi-faceted termination. There are a couple edge chips, but it is in overall excellent condition and one of the better I've seen from the locality. This is likely from the Karo Mine where the best Apatite were found years ago. This is an excellent crystal and the pictures don't do it justice.
