AU367 - Smithsonite with Willemite sold
Berg Aukus Mine, Grootfontein, Namibia
Miniature - 4.2 x 3 x 1.8 cm
Satiny, translucent yellow Smithsonite with micro Willemite. Lesser known than Tsumeb, this mine produced some great Smithsonite specimens. The Smithsonite is highly translucent and you can see straight through to the matrix in areas. Ex. Wolfgang Pohl collection with label.
AU368 - Opal after Clam sold
Coober Pedy, South Australia, Australia
Miniature - 4.2 x 3.3 x 1.2 cm
Precious Opal that has replaced a fossil clam shell from the famous Coober Pedy opal fields in Australia. Most of these are uniform in shape and polished smooth, looking more like Opal that has filled casts after fossil clams. This one retains all the features of the clam including the hinge area and the back shows all the ridges and striations of the former shell surface. The top side is lightly polished and shows bright reds, greens, gold, and purple colorization. I purchased this one from a jewelry store in Chinatown, San Francisco about 25 years ago from the owner who was reluctant to sell. This is a rare, complete specimen translucent when backlit.

Sapat Gali, Kaghan Valley, Mansehra District, Pakistan
Thumbnail - 2.4 x 1.6 x 1.2 cm
Single Peridot crystal with exceptional bright green color, clarity, and sharp, smooth crystal faces. Some many Peridot crystals tend towards an olive green color and rounded rather that crisp edges. With the exception of two termination faces that are slightly less smooth, all the crystal faces are perfectly flat and lustrous. The color is a superb bright vivid green. A Peridot of rare quality which I have owned for 20 years or more. Better than photos!

This crystal is far better than most with good color and smooth, flat crystal faces. Complete all around and undamaged. There are also included acicular crystals of Ludwigite on the back side. A Peridot of rare quality which I have owned for 20 years or more.
