New find of chatoyant Sugilite. Prized Sugilite specimens were first those with small crystals, then later came specimens with fibrous crystals - and now this style, the first I've ever seen like it. This is a solid seam of fibrous, chatoyant Sugilite, reportedly the best quality (though not the biggest) out of only about 5 significant pieces found. A rare and unusual specimen, but could you imagine cat's-eye Sugilite cabachons? Weighs 55.6 grams.
