Specimen of bright yellow cadmium Smithsonite. This is solid translucent crystalline Smithsonite without matrix. Botryoidal, satiny crystalline surfaces are present in vuggy areas. The Sheshodonnell East Mine is a small former zinc mine that was worked in about 1862-63 (per MINDAT). The miners were lookng for the sphalerite and the smithsonite was placed in the dumps, and collected about 100 years later. Ex. Tim Sherburn collection.
