Large Quartz pseudomorph after Feldspar with cris-crossing crystals. These are known as 'Gitter Quartz" (a German name for fence or lattice Quartz) or simply 'Lattice Quartz'. The Quartz crystals normally form epitaxially on Feldspar with either single or multiple Feldspar crystals covered with oriented Quartz crystals on the sides. This one however is a complete replacement of the Feldspar (you see nothing but Quartz when looking at the base). It's large in size with hundreds of cris-crossing Quartz crystals that extend out from the former Feldspar crystals. The Erongo Mountains is one of the only worldwide localities that produce this style of unusual Quartz specimens.
