T576 - Tanzanite Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 1.7 x 0.9 x 0.7 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Single, complete Tanzanite crystal. An interesting combination of blue and yellow coloration. Superb quality and highly transparent. Undamaged, natural Tanzanite.
T577 - Magnesio Axinite $ 450 (=~ € 369) Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.5 x 2.5 x 0.3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Single, complete Magnesio Axinite crystal. These are only found sporadically at Merelani, and even when found, are mostly just fragments of crystals. This is an uncommonly complete crystal, relatively undamaged with just a contact and chip along one edge.
T602 - Rhodochrosite with Fluorite $ 350 (=~ € 287) American Tunnel, Silverton, Colorado miniature - 4.2 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Rhodochrosite crystals on clear Fluorite.The Fluorite has great luster and has small step faces modifying the main octahedral form. This is a floater specimen crystallized all around. Super pretty and undamaged.
T603 - Pyromorphite $ 750 (=~ € 616) 9 Level, Jersey Vein, Bunker Hill Mine, Kellogg, Idaho, USA small cabinet - 7 x 5 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Yellow/green Pyromorphite crystals covering matrix. The crystals have an incredible wet looking luster and are undamaged.
T611 - Rose Quartz on Quartz $ 500 (=~ € 410) Sapucaia, Minas Gerais, Brazil small cabinet - 7 x 6 x 4.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() A large single white Quartz crystals that has been coated by Rose Quartz crystals across the front faces and wrapping around the back. The Rose Quartz is in turn sprinkled with Eosphorite. A good sized, colorful specimen and undamaged.
T614 - Chrome Tremolite $ 300 (=~ € 246) Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.8 x 2.2 x 1.2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Good sized, terminated Chrome Tremolite crystal with excellent color. This is a little larger than most, and has an excellent, multi-faced termination. It also has outstanding color, and appears to have some cutting quality gems zones inside too.
T624 - Tourmaline $ 1500 (=~ € 1232) Alto Ligonha, Mozambique small cabinet - 5.2 x 2.6 x 2.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Terminated single Tourmaline crystal with a pink red color and a very thin green cap. This is an old piece in relatively good condition with just a bit of chipping on the back termination edge. It's nicely translucent with an etched base and weighs 51.8 grams. This was recently released from a collection.
T635 - Orpiment $ 400 (=~ € 328) Twin Creeks Mine, Humboldt Co., Nevada small cabinet - 6 x 5.5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Golden Orpiment crystals on matrix from the best ever find of Orpiment in the USA. The crystals are translucent and reach 1.5cm in size. There is alot of '3-dimensionality' to the overall form of the piece, giving it more character as compared to the more common flat druses of crystals.
T638 - Copper $ 240 (=~ € 197) Ajo, Pima Co., Arizona, USA small cabinet - 5.5 x 3.7 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Well crystallized branching group of copper crystals.
T639 - Harmotome on Calcite $ 400 (=~ € 328) Strontian Barite Mine, Strontian, North West Highlands, Scotland cabinet - 11.5 x 7.5 x 3.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lustrous white crystals of the rare zeolite Harmotome across the front display face, with golden Calcite crystals on the backside. The Harmotome crystals occur in a wide mixture of size ranges up to 1cm.
T641 - Tsavorite with Pyrite $ 1500 (=~ € 1232) Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 3 x 0.5 x 0.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() An extremely elongated Tsavorite crystal with attached Pyrite crystals. Fully crystallized all around and undamaged, even the bottom end has some crystal faces present. This is the longest elongated Tsavorite I have yet seen from recent production.
T656 - Rosasite after Malachite after Azurite (R) Tsumeb, Namibia cabinet - 10 x 9 x 7 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rare large cluster of Rosasite after Malachite after Azurite crystals, the largest cluster I can recall ever seeing. Note that this has been repaired in a number of places. This came out of an old collection and the repairs have not been done to modern standards, so it could be greatly improved. There are five large crystals that comprise the group. Just a rare and spectacular piece.
T657 - Malachite on Chrysocolla after Malachite $ 1200 (=~ € 985) Katanga, Congo cabinet - 10 x 8.5 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() The Katanga region of the Democratic Republic of Congo is the Malachite capital of the world, yet most found is lapidary grade with only a small percentage (usually fibrous or stalactitc specimens) being of any interest to mineral collectors. With specimens like this, Katanga can also claim to be one of the best localities for perfectly crystallized Malachite too. This specimen features perfectly formed individual crystals to 1.3 cm on a colorful and contrasting matrix of sky blue Chrysocolla. Just fabulously sharp single crystals.The Chrysocolla has partially psuedomorphed an earlier generation of Malachite crystals.
T658 - Chalcocite $ 420 (=~ € 345) Kipushi Mine, Katanga, Congo miniature - 4.5 x 3.6 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Large, complete single crystal. Well crystallized on both sides and shows good iridescence. This is old material from the collection of longtime African dealer Rob Smith. If you search Mindat photos for the locality, all you will find are millimeter sized crystals.
T660 - Sugilite $ 2500 (=~ € 2052) N'Chwanning III Mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields, South Africa small cabinet - 5.3 x 4 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() New find of chatoyant Sugilite. Prized Sugilite specimens were first those with small crystals, then later came specimens with fibrous crystals - and now this style, the first I've ever seen like it. This is a solid seam of fibrous, chatoyant Sugilite, reportedly the best quality (though not the biggest) out of only about 5 significant pieces found. A rare and unusual specimen, but could you imagine cat's-eye Sugilite cabachons? Weighs 55.6 grams.
