Laterally compressed translucent white Calcite crystal completely covered by a layer of sugary Quartz crystals, with attached pink Stilbite crystals. Unusual specimen that is reminiscent of Steve Smale's specimen known as 'The Cricket Bat' (see page 117 of the Smale Collection book). A couple of the Stilbite crystals are incomplete, otherwise undamaged, with the Stilbite only on one side. I've never seen another like this.

Outstanding, undamaged cluster of blue Prehnite, crystallized front and back. Rarely do you see blue Prehnites of this quality with such good crystal form. These are also color change, producing different shades of blue in indoor versus outdoor lighting.

Large, solid radial mass of Brucite on matrix. This is an uncommon example well crystallized all around, characteristic of open pocket growth and not growth in tight, contacted seams as are most. Translucent, thick and sturdy.

Sky-blue Chrysocolla has replaced another species (possibly elongated Selenite crystals) in this pseudomorph specimen. A couple of the longer, large crystals that are incomplete show the replacement is total Chrysocolla.

Large, dark color Sphalerite crystals dominate the top of this specimen with the largest individual one measuring 3.5cm on edge. The matrix is entirely Sphalerite with the terminated top crystals showing small white druzy Quartz crystals providing a nice contrast. Weight is 1lb, 10oz. Ex. The Rocksmiths Minerals with their old label that is over 20 years old. A very clean specimen with only minor contact or chipping to the main crystals.

A rare specimen from Butte County in California showing a cluster of bladed, light brown, Axinite crystals centered on a pair of water-clear Quartz crystals. The specimen is a floater with no point of attachment visible and the Quartz crystals are terminated on both ends. No visible damage to any part of this specimen. Murdoch, Joseph & Robert W. Webb (1966), in Minerals of California, notes an occurrence near the Feather River and Yankee Hill areas, but little else is known. Comes mounted with minreal tac in a 2-inch perky box with an original old faded label. A true rarity for the California collector.

Malosa, Zomba, Southern Region, Malawi [db_pics/pics/SM558e.jpg]

A large, 11.0cm long, double-terminated, dark colored Aegirine crystal serves as host to a number of species including dozens of small yellow gemmy Zircon crystals, white Orthoclase crystals, large encrusted Siderite crystals, and a few clear Quartz points. Sold to me as Zircon replacing Siderite crystals, of which there are 3 distinct crystals to 2cm. An outstanding combination of species for the locality and in very good condition all-around.
