Magnesio Axinite from Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania [db_pics/pics/t559a.jpg] Magnesio Axinite from Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania [db_pics/pics/t559b.jpg]

Single, complete Magnesio Axinite crystal. These are only found spradically at Merelani, and even when found, are mostly just fragments of crystals. This is an uncommonly complete crystal, relatively undamaged with just a little chatter along one edge.

T563 - Diopside $ 400 (=~ CAN$ 549)
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
thumbnail - 2.8 x 1.1 x 0.5 cm

Single Diopside with the top chrome green coloration. A funny thing about Merelani Diopsides is that the highly transparent crystals have lighter color, and crystals like this one, with the top color, have less transparency. There are two indentations from other crystals on one narrow side, otherwise complete and undamaged all around.

T566 - Tsavorite on Graphite $ 1200 (=~ CAN$ 1647)
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
thumbnail - 1.1 x 1.1 x 1 cm

Outstanding small thumbnail composed of two interconnected GEM Tsavorite crystal on Graphite. Flawless gem Tsavorite crystals are hard to come by because the cutting value is so high they are almost always cut as gemstones. This specimen has two glass-like, undamaged crystals, though one has a indentation where another Tsavorite was formerly located.

Crystallized Graphite with light green Diopside and vivid green Tsavorite crystals. Tsavorite crystals are 8mm and very gemmy with excellent color. Undamaged, uncommon and showy Merelani combo specimen.

A recent surprise from Merelani are these elongated Tsavorite crystals. This one is a glassy green crystal, undamaged, and beautifully accented by Pyrite crystals.

Golden Orpiment crystals on matrix from the best ever find of Orpiment in the USA. The crystals are translucent and reach 1.5cm in size. There is alot of '3-dimensionality' to the overall form of the piece, giving it more character as compared to the more common flat druses of crystals.

T638 - Copper $ 240 (=~ CAN$ 329)

The Katanga region of the Democratic Republic of Congo is the Malachite capital of the world, yet most of the Malachite is lapidary grade with only a small percentage (usually fibrous or stalactitc specimens) being of any interest to mineral collectors. With specimens like this, Katanga can also claim to be one of the best localities for perfectly crystallized Malachite too. This specimen features perfectly formed individual crystals to 1.3 cm on a colorful and contrasting matrix of sky blue Chrysocolla. Just fabulously sharp single crystals. The Chrysocolla has partially pseudomorphed an earlier generation of Malachite crystals.

Massive single, well terminated green Tourmaline crystal with highly fibrous, hair-like structure in areas. Broad, flat termination slopes gently back towards the side wtihteh hair-like growth. Can be displayed from one side as a typical (but huge) Tourmaline, or from the other side showing the hair-like fibrous structures.

Fine quality Vanadinite specimen loaded with red crystals to 2cm over a thin matrix, essentially nothing but crystals. Undamaged, which is difficult to find in a Vanadinite specimen of this size with so many crystals.  A real beauty, the pics say it all.
