Outstanding small thumbnail composed of two interconnected GEM Tsavorite crystal on Graphite. Flawless gem Tsavorite crystals are hard to come by because the cutting value is so high they are almost always cut as gemstones. This specimen has two glass-like, undamaged crystals, though one has a indentation where another Tsavorite was formerly located.

An uncommon matrix Tsavorite specimen with large gemmy crystals associated with Calcite on Graphite. The two largest crystals are each about 1.7cm wide. The crystals are very gemmy, good sized, and on matrix. The white Calcite crystals provide nice color contrast too. There is significant gem value to the crystals, possibly more valuble than my asking price. The central crystal has a facet grade gem area that is 13 x 10 x 7mm. Large gem quality Tsavorites are hard to find, especially on matrix.

T641 - Tsavorite with Pyrite $ 1500

Tsavorite from Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania [db_pics/pics/t692a.jpg] Tsavorite from Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania [db_pics/pics/t692b.jpg] Tsavorite from Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania [db_pics/pics/t692c.jpg]

A real GEM of a Tsavorite crystal. Totally transparent and crystalized on all sides, even the bottom. Some Tsavorites grow perched atop the edges of Graphite crystals which allows crystal faces to form on the bottom as well as the top and sides. There are residual thin black grooves on the bottom where the Graphite crystals were, otherwise fully crystallized.

Fine quality elongated Tsavorite crystal from recent production (2017) that has been producing these stange, elongated crystals. Many of the new crystals, like this one, exhibit a faden line running up the C-axis. This is an undamaged floater cluster of a few interconnected crystals.

Rare faden Tsavorite crystal, glassy and well crystallized all around. This style of Tsavorite is new this year and there has been a fair production of it. While not as large as they get, this crystal is on the large side, and the quality is as good as it gets.

T932 - Tsavorite with Diopside, Pyrite $ 600
Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania
thumbnail - 2.9 x 1.0 x 0.9 cm

Tsavorite with Diopside, Pyrite from Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania [db_pics/pics/t932a.jpg] Tsavorite with Diopside, Pyrite from Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania [db_pics/pics/t932b.jpg] Tsavorite with Diopside, Pyrite from Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania [db_pics/pics/t932c.jpg]

Formation of three elongated Tsavorite crystal groups forming a polygon with a small Diopside in the center and numerous attached tiny Pyrite crystals. Glassy and well crystallized all around. This style of Tsavorite is new this year and highly unusual, and a wonderful surprise from the Merelani mines. It's essentially a floater, with only the very tip of the long end being a point of contact. An amazing specimen!!!

Formation of elongated Tsavorite crystals that grade up in size towards the top, with attached tiny Pyrite crystals. Glassy and well crystallized all around. This style of Tsavorite is new this year and highly unusual, and a wonderful surprise from the Merelani mines. It's essentially a floater, with a small point of contact at the thick end. At the right angle it looks like a lightning bolt. An amazing specimen!!!
