Individual Smithsonite crystals reach 7mm in size. Ex. Claude Yoder, Jean Lee collections. Claude's old label shows a date of July 2011.
LP600 - Spinel $ 150 Mahenge, Morogoro Region, Tanzania thumbnail - 1.8 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm Cluster of sharp red Spinel crystals with a small amount of attached white Calcite matrix. The top Spinel is well formed, complete, translucent and 1.3cm wide.
LP603 - Phenakite $ 1500 Rio Piracicaba, Carai, Minas Gerais, Brazil thumbnail - 2 x 1.8 x 1.1 cm Fine quality single crystal of Phenakite from old finds in Brazil. Complete gemmy crystal with lustrous glassy faces. Well crystallized on the front, edges, and most of the back side. Ex. Bill and Ann Cook collection.
MK928 - Azurite on Malachite $ 220 Milpillas Mine, Cananea District, Sonora, Mexico thumbnail - 3 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm Sharp blue crystals of Azurite atop velvety Malachite. The crystals are complete and undamaged and reach 1.8cm in size. Milpillas Azurite specimens with the Azurite on velvety Malachite such as this are among my favorite.
LP622 - Connellite $ 50 St. George Mine, Cornwall, England thumbnail - 2.3 x 2.3 x 1 cm Colorful thumbnail-sized specimen of deep blue Connellite. Connellite is a rare hydrated copper sulfate/chloride mineral. The Type locality for the species is in Cornwall.
LP716 - Chrysoberyl $ 350 Lac Alaotra, Ambatondrazaka, Madagascar thumbnail - 1.5 x 1.4 x 1.2 cm Bright greenish yellow Chrysoberyl crystal from Madagascar. Thick and barrel-shaped with sixling twinning visible on the ends.
LP717 - Chrysoberyl $ 220 Lac Alaotra, Ambatondrazaka, Madagascar thumbnail - 0.9 x 0.7 x 0.7 cm Bright greenish yellow Chrysoberyl crystal from Madagascar. Thick and barrel-shaped with sixling twinning visible on the ends. A floater, well crystallized all around.
LP721 - Red Beryl $ 400 Violet Claims, Wah Wah Mtns/. Beaver Co., Utah, USA thumbnail - 1.4 x 0.5 x 0.5 cm Doubly-terminated Red Beryl crystal from Utah. A complete floater crystal with uniform shape all around (with one shallow indent on one face) and showing areas of transparency. Just released from a private collection.
LP727 - Pyrite $ 275 Huanzala Mine, Huallanca, Ancash, Peru thumbnail - 3.1 x 2.5 x 2.5 Mirror-lustrous octahedral Pyrite crystal from the Huanzala Mine. The crystal is 2.5cm wide and complete all around.
LP728 - Azurite $ 400 Tsumeb, Namibia thumbnail - 2.1 x 2 x 1.6 Cluster of thick, deep blue Azurite crystals from Tsumeb. Well crystallized all around.
LP850 - Nagyagite $ 200 Sacarimb (Nagyag), Deva, Hunedoara Co., Romania thumbnail - 1.6 x 1.1 x 0.8 cm Platy grey and lustrous crystals of Nagyagite, a rare lead gold tellurium antimony sulfide, that contrast well against the light colored rock matrix. Hard to find thumbnail from the Type locality for the species.
LP638 - Pyrargyrite $ 200 Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico thumbnail - 2.5 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm Cluster of intergrown Pyrargyrite crystals. These are sometimes refered to as 'ruby silver' due to the silver content of the mineral and the deep red coloration. Some areas show transparency when backlit.
LP686 - Diopside $ 80 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.2 x 1.7 x 1.2 cm Chunky single Diopside crystal from the Merelani Tanzanite mines. This is a lustrous, doubly-terminated crystal with medium green color and areas of transparency.
LP704 - Diopside $ 40 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 1.4 x 0.6 x 0.5 cm Single Diopside crystal from the Merelani Tanzanite mines. A small well terminated crystal with good green color and areas of transparency.
LP688 - Diopside $ 90 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.7 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm Single Diopside crystal from the Merelani Tanzanite mines. A complete well terminated crystal (that is partially double terminated) with good green color and areas of transparency. Nice steep termination.
