LP603 - Phenakite $ 1500 Rio Piracicaba, Carai, Minas Gerais, Brazil thumbnail - 2 x 1.8 x 1.1 cm Fine quality single crystal of Phenakite from old finds in Brazil. Complete gemmy crystal with lustrous glassy faces. Well crystallized on the front, edges, and most of the back side. Ex. Bill and Ann Cook collection.
LP605 - Tourmaline with Quartz (R) $ 3500 Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande, San Diego Co., California, USA small cabinet - 6.8 x 3.2 x 2 cm Branching, multi-colored Tourmaline specimen from the gem pegmatites of southern California. Gemmy green crystals with rose-colored terminations(more red than typical pink). This is unusual in that most Himalaya Mine Tourmaline are single crystals and this branching specimen, with an attached doubly-terminated Quartz, is particularly aesthetic. The large Tourmaline is also doubly-terminated. Ex. Tim Sherburn collection. Tim's label notes that it was self-collected by Tim in 1989 during a collecting trip with Peter Lyckberg. It has an indentation from another crystal on the side, and has one repair. This was one of Tim's most prized specimens in his collection and was shown on the first page of Tim's section in the California collector edition of the Mineralogical Record.
LP780 - Datolite $ 1200 N'Chwanning II Mine, Northern Cape Prov., South Africa small cabinet - 6.5 x 4.5 x 4 cm Rare pink Datolite crystals from old, limited finds at the N'Chwanning Mine. The crystals are a well saturated pink color, lustrous with a soft glow similar to Rose Quartz when held near a light source. There is a wonderful small stalactite growth in the center and the bottom is also covered with crystals. Ex. Marshall Sussman personal collection.
LP842 - Galena (skeletal) $ 1200 9th of September Mine, Madan, Bulgaria cabinet - 10 x 6 x 5.5 cm Cluster of hoppered (skeletal) Galena crystals from the 9th of September Mine in Bulgaria. These are true skeletal Galena (not the man-made variety that were circulating years ago!) and occur with Sphalerite and Pyrite crystals. Undamaged and well crystallized all around, essentially a floater.
LP843 - Heliodor $ 3200 Sapucaia do Norte, Minas Gerais, Brazil small cabinet - 7.5 x 1.8 x 1.4 cm Etched crystal of greenish yellow Beryl var. Heliodor. Fully transparent with surface striations and is doubly-terminated with more pointed terminations at one end and flatter terminations at the other. Complete and undamaged. Weighs 27.35 grams.
LP844 - Anglesite $ 3500 Touissit, Morocco small cabinet - 6 x 6 x 5.5 cm Exquisite yellow Anglesite crystals on Galena from Touissit, the source of the world's finest Anglesite. The best Anglesite were found decades ago from this now closed mine and top quality crystals are hard to find. This specimen has Anglesite crystals to 2cm tall that have excellent transparency, fine lemon yellow color, aesthetic arrangement on the matrix, and are undamaged.
LP863 - Tourmaline $ 12500 Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil small cabinet - 8 x 2.7 x 2.5 cm Large single crystal of color-zoned Tourmaline from recent finds in Brazil. Richly colored crystal that 3 color zones - maroon red at the base, a highly transparent light orangish red center, and a vivid cranberry red at the termination. There is some chipping on the termination and it's priced accordingly. Weighs 112.33 grams.
LP864 - Tourmaline $ 7800 Rubaya, North Kivu, Dem. Rep. of Congo small cabinet - 8.1 x 2.2 x 1.7 cm Glassy pink and green Tourmaline crystal from recent finds in the Congo. The Tourmaline is a glassy pink with a bright green termination. Good transparency and in excellent condition, even the base has been rehealed. This is a crystal from early production at the locality that I obtained in a trade. It weighs 52.04 grams. Good, larger sized Congo Tourmaline typically sells for about $300/gram, but because it is an older piece obtained in a trade I'm able to sell it here at about $150/gram.
LP927 - Fluorite $ 1400 Erongo Mtns., Namibia miniature - 4.2 x 2 x 2 cm Colorful, unusually-shaped Fluorite crystal from Erongo, a region known for these strange Fluorites. The crystal is transparent purple and green with a diagonal band of reddish brown. Complete all around and undamaged with matte luster on some faces and glassy luster on others. One photo is backlit to show internal colors.
LP936 - Rose Quartz on Quartz $ 1200 Taquaral, Itinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil small cabinet - 9 x 4.5 x 3 cm A band of Rose Quartz crystals grown across the side of a single white Quartz crystal. The Rose Quartz crystals are parallel growth and doubly-terminated and undamaged. Ex. Randy Parnagian collection (RP-1064).
LP943 - Zincolivenite $ 1250 Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico miniature - 3.5 x 2 x 2 cm Toothy clusters of Zincolivenite crystals on matrix from a new find at the Milpillas Mine (yes - with a rise in Copper prices the mine reopenned and they hit a zone of great zincolivenite crystals). This is a floater of a small bit of matrix covered by spherical clusters of crystals. There is a first generation of spherical clusters with smaller, finer crystals upon which grew a second generation of larer crystals.
LP949 - Tourmaline $ 1600 Burkhard's Pocket, Pederniera Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil miniature - 4.6 x 1.4 x 1.2 cm Tall single Tourmaline crystal with a well saturated pink core, followed by a green zone, and finally purple at the termination. AU164 - Fluorite on Muscovite $ 1200 Chumar Bakhoor, Nagar District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan miniature - 4.5 x 4.3 x 3 cm Pink octahedral Fluorite crystals on a matrix of Muscovite crystals. The largest Fluorite is 3.5cm wide. The Fluorite is translucent to transparent and has small surface growth features and a mixture of glassy and matte surface luster. Aesthetic miniature that is undamaged.
AU102 - Rhodonite with Galena $ 3000 Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia large cabinet - 16 x 9 x 8 cm Large, museum sized red Rhodonite crystals in a matrix of crystallized Galena. This is an impressive large specimen composed of multiple large crystals bound together by Galena. Individual Rhodonite crystals reach 8cm long. The crystals grew inwards from each end of the specimen and the terminations all interlock towards the middle. I considered trying to trim this into a few pieces to expose the terminations more, but decided to leave it as is. It's an incredible piece worthy of a museum. I've never seen so many big crysals in one specimen before.
AU162 - Millerite $ 3500 Perseverance Mine (Agnew Mine), Leinster, Leonora Shire, Western Australia, Australia large cabinet - 16 x 13 x 5.5 cm Large, museum sized Millerite specimen from the Agnew Mine, one of the largest nickel deposits in the world. This is an impressive large specimen composed of multiple hemispherical clusters of golden acicular Millerite crystals. The mound-like clusters reach over 6cm in diameter. The bright golden acicular crystals are reaadily seen on the smaller clusters and the the exposed sides of the larger clusters. It's an incredible piece worthy of a museum, in fact I understand most museums in Australia don't have an Agnew Millerite of this magnitude. This is an old specimen from a now closed mine.
