The entire front is colored golden by the Chalcopyrite and at first glance it's hard to tell where the sphalerite stops and the Chalcopyrite crystals start - it looks like solid Chalcopyrite crystals from the front.

M449 - Ankerite on Mariposite $ 300 Carson Hill Gold Mine, Calaveras Co., California, USA cabinet - 13 x 9 x 8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large specimen of Ankerite, a mineral similar to Dolomite, on green Mariposite. Quality large specimen with great crystals to over 2cm. Mariposite is a dolomitic marble included by chromium rich mica found in the foothills of California and was often an indicator of nearby Gold and gives this specimen the green coloration.

These are new to me, and I only saw a few at the Tucson show with one dealer. A nice medium green color, translucent with small trnasparent areas. Well crystallized all around with some crystals faces on the bottom too. Undamaged with a bit of attached white Feldspar.
