Exceptional specimen of the rare phosphate mineral Kulanite. These are often found as specimens with small drusy crystals. This specimen has a large isolated crystal/compound crystal (?) 1cm wide along with other smaller, isolated crystals. Out of an old collection.

Fine quality specimen Ankerite, a mineral similar to Dolomite, with larger than average crystals. Undamaged specimen with large platy crystals to 2.2 cm. Has a slight green tint at the base due to Mariposite, the host rock upon which this was found. Mariposite is a dolomitic marble included by chromium rich mica found in the foothills of California and was often an indicator of nearby Gold.

These were first discovered in 2001 and are found mostly of industrial quality. Though they don't get very large, the color is spectacular. It's on the large size range and has very good color. Studies have shown these to be very high in Zinc and could be labelled as Gahnite.

Studies have shown these to be very high in Zinc and could be labelled as Gahnite.
