MM101 - Cinnabar in Quartz $ 600 (=~ CAN$ 0)
Hunan, China
small cabinet - 8 x 5 x 4 cm

Cinnabar in Quartz from Hunan, China [db_pics/pics/mm101a.jpg] Cinnabar in Quartz from Hunan, China [db_pics/pics/mm101b.jpg] Cinnabar in Quartz from Hunan, China [db_pics/pics/mm101c.jpg]

Large single Quartz crystal with inclusions of Cinnabar. The Quartz is complete all around but not perfect as the backside of the termination has some natural contact where it intergrew with Calcite and possibly some damage. Regardless, this is a rare spcimen richly included by Cinnabar and hard to find in this size. This is an old Al McGuinness specimen and label indicated Al acquired it back in 1987.

Well formed Laumontite crystals spraying out in various directions, all terminated and undamaged. The Pine Creek Mine is an old Tungsten mine situated at an elevation of 11,300 feet above sea level and produced a number of these little know, high quality Laumontite specimens. Although the previous label calls it Laumontite, I understand these are actually pseudomorphs of leonhardite after laumontite.
