Large specimen of Dioptase, primary Malachite crystals, and Shattuckite. Though not a classically perfect specimen (the front of the Malachite cluster is contacted by the opposing pocket wall), it is none the less large, impressive, and very interesting. Also, I got it in trade and have it priced to move. To start with, the cluster of Malachite crystals is nearly 6cm wide and composed of huge individual crysals that are sharp and pointed. There is no rock matrix - the rest of the specimen is composed entirely of Dioptase crystals, Shattuckite, and Chrysocolla. On the right side there is a large open vug lined with botryoidal Shattuckite and Dioptase crystals. On the back, there are at least a few small crystals of the rare double pseudomorph of Shattuckite after Dioptase after Calcite. All in all, a highly interesting and representative specimen from the Tantara Mine.
