ST556 - Quartz Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania miniature - 4.8 x 2.5 x 2 cm Thick, double-terminated Quartz crystal with a smaller single crystal rising up off one side. This crystal has a lot of character and reminds me a submarine for some reason. Complete all around and undamaged. Found at the Merelani Tanzanite mines.
ST554 - Tourmaline St. Anne's Mine, Miami, Karoi District, Zimbabwe small cabinet - 7.2 x 0.7 x 0.6 cm Long, dark green but transparent single Tourmaline crystal from recent production at the famous St. Anne's mine in Zimbabwe. Tourmaline has been very rare from this mine historically, which has primarily targeted blue Topaz. Though dark, it is transparent facet grade throughout with a more greenish brown at the tip and a bright pure green over the rest of the crystal. The crystal has a natural 'bend' near the base caused by natural fracturing and rehealing processes during the crytal's growth. Complete and undamaged and weighs 8.52 grams.
ST659 - Dioptase Christmas Mine, Gila Co., Arizona, USA small cabinet - 7 x 4.5 x 1.5 cm Shallow Calcite lined vug loaded with bright Diioptase crystals. Ex. Erich Laskowski collection.
ST759 - Natrolite Mwanjanga, Manyara Region, Tanzania small cabinet - 6.2 x 0.3 x 0.3 cm Long translucent to transparent single Natrolite crystal. Perfectly terminated and complete and undamaged. From recent, limited production, these new Natrolites are exceptional for the species for their sharpness and transparency.
ST711 - Andorite Itos Vein, San Jose Mine, Oruro, Bolivia thumbnail - 2.5 x 1.6 x 0.8 cm Metallic grey, striated single Andorite crystal from the San Jose Mine in Bolivia. Associated minerals include yellow, crust-like Cervanite, micro crystals of Rhodostannite, and Zinkenite. Ex. Erich Laskowski collection.
ST777 - Aquamarine Mount Antero, Chaffee County, Colorado, USA thumbnail - 2.3 x 1.2 x 0.8 cm Complete single medium blue Aquamarine crystal from Mount Antero. Undamaged with a perfect termination and internally transparent and has some matrix intergrown into the back face.
ST795 - Malachite (chatoyant) Shilu Mine, Yangchun Co., Yangjiang Prefecture, Guangdong Province, China cabinet - 13 x 8 x 4 cm Botryoidal Malachite specimen from the Shilu Mine in China. This find produced Malachite with a wonderful velvety, chatoyant surface luster. The chatoyancy is very evident under bright lights or in direct sunlight, creating shimmering 'eyes' all over. It has bubbly botryoidal surfaces along the top with a lighter green, fibrous structure around the edges and all over the bottom. Undamaged and a good size for these (not too big, not too small).
ST645 - Hyalophane Zadraski Potok Mine, Busovaca, Bosnia miniature - 4 x 2.7 x 2.4 cm Cluster of glassy Hyalophane crystals from Bosnia. The crystals are glassy and transparent with attached crystals of Goethite after Ankerite, Muscovite and small acicular crystals of Rutile. Complete all around and undamaged floater specimen. Ex. Erich Laskowski collection.
ST897 - Columbite Antsongombat Mine, Betafo Dist., Antananarivo Prov., Madagascar thumbnail - 3.1 x 1.5 x 0.8 cm Well terminated 2cm Columbite crystal that displays dramatically atop another partial Columbite crystal. Ex. Erich Laskowski collection.
ST948 - Tourmaline with Topaz Stak Nala, Skardu, Pakistan small cabinet - 6 x 5 x 3.5 cm Two interconnected crystals of Topaz bisected by a single Tourmaline crystal with a touch of Albite at the base. Both of the Topaz crystals are glassy and translucent to transparent. The Tourmaline is Elbaite due to the presence of a thin green zone at the termination and provides a stark contrast between the two golden Topaz crystals. All the crystals are pristine and come together to form an aesthetic display piece. Comes mounted on a Lucite stand.
ST939 - Volkovskite Boulby Mine, Loftus, N. Yorkshire, England cabinet - 10.5 x 8.5 x 5 cm Complete crystal group of the rare mineral Volkovskite from the Boulby Mine in England. This is one of only two known terminated crystal groups collected from a single find made deep in a section of the mine that extends out under the Altlantic ocean. The Volkovskite was found during normal mining operations for potash when the mine machinery stalled when it encountered a mass of the much harder Volkovskite. Because Volkovskite damages mine machinery, the area where it was found is now avoided and it is unclear if anymore will be recovered. This recent find of Volkovskite has set the world standard for the species and this specimen is one of the best. The specimen has crystallized surfaces all around - most were just cleavages (the cleavage structure can be seen on the bottom of this specimen, last photo).
ST932 - Celadonite in Apophyllite Jalgaon, Maharashtra State, India small cabinet - 6.5 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm Blocky, deep blue/green crystals of Apophyllite from India. Uncommonly high quality example of Apophyllite crystals colored blue/green due to inclusions of Celadonite. Minerals from the Deccan Plateau in India are abundant, but not like this. Pristine, uncommonly rare and aesthetic. Comes with a custom Lucite display stand.
ST729 - Almandine Garnet Ledge, Wrangell Island, Alaska, USA small cabinet - 8 x 6 x 3.5 cm Specimen of Almandine garnet crystals in schist matrix from the well known Wrangell Island locality in Alaska. The crystals reach 1.5cm wide with purple/red coloration and translucency and are well exposed from the schist. This one is loaded with crystals - the collector must have been very happy to find this one with 5 good crystals in one small piece of schist. A USA classic.
SV318 - Almandine Green's Farm locality, Roxbury, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, USA small cabinet - 6 x 2.8 x 2.5 cm Old USA classic Almandine specimen with a complete purple-red dodecahedron 2.3cm wide. The Almandine sits perfectly for display in a gray/green schist matrix. A good-sized crystal for the locality which is now closed to collecting.
SV413 - Mottramite Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico cabinet - 9.5 x 6.5 x 4.5 cm Botryoidal Mottramite from the big find in 2011 at the Ojuela Mine that produced some of the world's best Mottramite. The Mottramite has a green/yellow color and a somewhat organic-looking appearance.
