ST192 - Cobaltian Calcite on Quartz Kolwezi Mining District, Lualaba, DR Congo small cabinet - 5.5 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm Unusual finger-like formations of pink Cobaltoan Calcite in a Quartz crystal lined vug. The individual crystal aggregates reach 8mm tall. There are so many neat and unusual minerals found in this part of the world and this certainly is one of them.
ST226 - Lazulite Graves Mtn., Georgia, USA thumbnail - 2 x 1.5 x 1 cm Sharp single crystal with good blue color and attached micro Pyrite.
ST356 - Silver (cubic crystals!) Bouismas Mine, Zagora Prov., Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco thumbnail - 2.5 x 2 x 1 cm Cubic Silver crystals on matrix that have been exposed from white Calcite. Cubic Silver crystals are uncommon and these are superbly formed, sharp cubes to about 2mm in size. The crystals are present on a Safflorite matrix around some remaining etched Calcite.
LL660 - Clinoclase on Cornubite Copper Stope, Majuba Hill Mine, Pershing Co., Nevada, USA small cabinet - 5.5 x 3.5 x 3 cm Deep blue crystals of Clinoclase over green Cornubite from the now defunct Majuba Hill Mine. Both the front and back and 1 side have great crystals.
LL684 - Chalcophyllite Copper Stope, Majuba Hill Mine, Pershing Co., Nevada, USA miniature - 4 x 2.5 x 1.5 cm Rich coverage of platy blue/green crystals of Chalcophyllite on matrix. Specimens of Chalcophyllite are some of the most sought after from this mine.
ST402 - Dioptase on/in Quartz Reneville, Dem. Rep. of Congo thumbnail - 2.7 x 2.7 x 1.5 cm Cluster of clear Quartz crystals with Dioptase. The main Dioptase is 1.3cm long, double-terminated, with both ends extending out opposite sides of the Quartz cluster. Old, rare specimen. Dioptase, when included in Quartz crystals, make rare and valuable specimens.
ST397 - Galena Treece, Kansas, USA small cabinet - 9 x 6 x 5.5 cm Bright metallic Galena cubes to 2.5cm on a silicified limestone matrix with red 'Ruby-Jack' Sphalerite crystals, Dolomite, and Calcite crystals from Treece, Kansas. The Galena are present on one side, but the specimen detached in the pocket and the Sphalerite and Calcite are present on all sides, making this a floater.
ST435 - Herderite Hi Hope Dig, near Anza, Riverside Co., California, USA thumbnail - 2.5 x 2 x 1.4 cm Translucent 1.5cm white Herderite crystal on matrix. Collected by Al Ordway and Jon Page during the late 1990s. The Hi Hope was a short lived dig named after the ranch owned by noted southern California collector Josie Scripps who had recently passed away in 1992. A rare specimen for a southern California collection.
ST434 - Libethenite Mindola pit, Rokana Mine, Kitwe, Zambia miniature - 3.2 x 2 x 1.8 cm Cluster of dark green, lustrous Libethenite crystals 1.5cm wide in a grey argillite matrix. These were collected in the 1970s and are considered to be some of the world's best for species.
ST546 - Sulfur in Selenite Maybee Quarry, Monroe Co., Michigan, USA cabinet - 11 x 6 x 4 cm Bright yellow crystals of Sulfur attached and fully included within transparent Gypsum var. Selenite. Sulfur inclusions in Selenite are uncommon and this is an excellent example. See the current issue of Mineralogical Record for an article on this locality.
ST556 - Quartz Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania miniature - 4.8 x 2.5 x 2 cm Thick, double-terminated Quartz crystal with a smaller single crystal rising up off one side. This crystal has a lot of character and reminds me a submarine for some reason. Complete all around and undamaged. Found at the Merelani Tanzanite mines.
ST554 - Tourmaline St. Anne's Mine, Miami, Karoi District, Zimbabwe small cabinet - 7.2 x 0.7 x 0.6 cm Long, dark green but transparent single Tourmaline crystal from recent production at the famous St. Anne's mine in Zimbabwe. Tourmaline has been very rare from this mine historically, which has primarily targeted blue Topaz. Though dark, it is transparent facet grade throughout with a more greenish brown at the tip and a bright pure green over the rest of the crystal. The crystal has a natural 'bend' near the base caused by natural fracturing and rehealing processes during the crytal's growth. Complete and undamaged and weighs 8.52 grams.
ST659 - Dioptase Christmas Mine, Gila Co., Arizona, USA small cabinet - 7 x 4.5 x 1.5 cm Shallow Calcite lined vug loaded with bright Diioptase crystals. Ex. Erich Laskowski collection.
ST759 - Natrolite Mwanjanga, Manyara Region, Tanzania small cabinet - 6.2 x 0.3 x 0.3 cm Long translucent to transparent single Natrolite crystal. Perfectly terminated and complete and undamaged. From recent, limited production, these new Natrolites are exceptional for the species for their sharpness and transparency.
ST800 - Microlite on Lepidolite Skardu, Pakistan small cabinet - 7 x 6 x 4.5 cm Golden yellow Microlite crystals on Lepidolite. The Microlite form cubotahedral crystals to 5mm in size. I count 15 crystals of Microlite on the specimen. Ex. Erich Laskowski collection.
