SM243 - Fluorite and Calcite with Galena Chihuahua, Mexico cabinet - 11.0 x 8.0 x 8.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This specimen has water-clear fluorite crystals positioned on massive white calcite. A few grey-black galena crystals and some very minor micro pyrite crystals are also in association. The calcite surfaces are smooth showing some evidence of etching. Ex. Frazier's Minerals.
SM835 - Azurite with Malachite Liufengshan Mine, Anhui, China large cabinet - 17.0 x 12.0 x 10.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This specimen is composed entirely of Azurite and Malachite veins with several open cavities showing high luster blue crystals of the Azurite - essentially a large Malachite geode lined with Azurite crystals. A very showy large cabinet size of the species. Weight approximately 4.0lbs.
SM936 - Kyanite Nani, Loliondo, Arusha Region, Tanzania miniature - 3.2 x 2.7 x 1.2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Translucent twinned orange Kyanite specimen composed of two crystals that come together at an angle forming a V-shape. These were recovered as a biproduct of mining for Spessartine and usually occured as single splintery crystals with this uncommon color for Kyanite, and 10% or less were these V-twins. Interesting and unique Kyanite specimen with typical ragged edges.
SM954 - Spessartine Nani, Loliondo, Arusha Region, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.1 x 2.0 x 2.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Equant, complete orange Spessartine with good translucency and large areas of internal transparency. This is a complete crystal all around with no contacts - only a small minority of the find are complete crystals, most are shards or have contacts on at least 1 or two sides. Some areas of black inclusions but many areas of gem, bright citrus orange. Weighs 62 carats.
SM966 - Azurite Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico miniature - 3.5 x 2.0 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Undamaged cluster of tabular blue azurite crystals. Translucent.
AR39 - Pyromorphite Bunker Hill Mine, Kellog, Shoshone County, Idaho miniature - 3.3 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Some of the finest known examples of Pyromorphite come from The Bunker Hill Mine. Specimens were collected in a multitude of colors, mainly within the orange, yellow, and green spectrum. This example shows mounds of crystals with both orange and yellow-green color and high lustre. Minor damage to a few of the crystals. Essentially solid Pyromorphite.
AR52 - Boleite, Anglesite on Gypsum Amelia Mine, Santa Rosalia, Baja, Mexico cabinet - 10.2 x 8.0 x 3.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dark blue Boleite crystals and white Anglesite crystals are scattered across both sides of a fibrous white Gypsum matrix. It's unusual to see Boleite on this type of matrix.
AR58 - Montmorillonite in Quartz White Queen Mine, Pala, San Diego County, California small cabinet - 6.0 x 2.6 x 2.4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Double terminated Quartz crystal colored by inclusions of Montmorillonite (a type of clay). These unusual crystals are a byproduct of Tourmaline mining and were only found occasionally in some of the San Diego mines. Very sharply terminated, hollow in two areas, and highly lustrous crystal faces. This is a great example.
AR70 - Topaz Minas Gerais, Brazil small cabinet - 6.0 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large glassy blue Topaz crystal complete all around with etched faces and water-clear transparency. The crystal detached in the pocket and is naturally etched all around. Weighs approximately 79 grams.
J40 - Copper with Silver Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan, USA cabinet - 14.0 x 9.0 x 5.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A classic cabinet size Michigan Copper specimen with minor Quartz and a few patches of bright native Silver. There is also a cavity with larger crystals that have a red patina. Weight is 1lb, 9.6oz, or 727 grams.

J334 - Hematite Rio La Marina, Elba, Italy small cabinet - 6 x 4 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Crystals of irridescent Hematite associated with Pyrite. Colorful sheens of reds and greens play across the surface of the crystals. Comes with an old Lawrence Conklin label.
J722 - Tsavorite, Sphene, Diopside Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.1 x 1.7 x 0.9 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fine quality and unusual floater cluster of elongated Tsavorite crystals, brown Sphene crystals, and glassy Diopside crystals. Well crystallized on all sides.
J763 - Dioptase Mindouli District, Brazzaville, Congo cabinet - 11 x 5 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bright and lustrous Dioptase crystals on a tan rock matrix. This specimen has interesting crystallization with both cup-shaped formations of solid Diptase and crystals with somewhat wheat-sheaf formations. There are also occasional tiny yellow Wulfenites present.
K113 - Beryl (R) Strelley Station, Western Australia, Australia cabinet - 13 x 3 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Crystal of translucent green Beryl from the Strelley pegmatite, located approximatley 64 kilometres south-east of Port Hedland in Western Australia. The locality was originally mined for Cassiterite and Tantalite, however green Beryl was also recovered. This is a good size crystal from the John Saul collection. It is complete all around with good form and has been repaired in a few loactions.
