B780 - Bournonite Chichibu Mine, Honshu, Japan thumbnail - 1.9 x 1.2 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() Three old specimens of Bournonite from Japan. Bright with a silvery metallic luster. The smallest specimen is a double terminated crystal.
B790 - Azurite with Malachite Kamariza Mine, Laurium, Greece small cabinet - 8.9 x 6 x 4.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Beuatiful specimen of solid crystalline Azurite with areas of contrasting Malachite. Good crystals on all sides.
B916 - Dioptase Malpaso Quarry, Dumesnil, Córdoba, Argentina cabinet - 14 x 9 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Dioptase crystals to 5mm on matrix. Good sized specimen with good coverage, loaded with bright undamaged crystals. One of the best specimens from this occurrence I've seen.
B928 - Chamosite psuedo. Almandine Michigamme Mine, Marquette Co., Michigan small cabinet - 5.5 x 3.5 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Intergrown pair of crystals of Almandine replaced by Chamosite (the iron analogue of Clinochlore in the Chlorite group of minerals) from the upper peninsula of Michigan. Good sized with crystals to 3.5 cm (most found were less than 3cm). The old label indicates it was in the Frank Hess collection and identified it as 'Aphrosiderite', however Aphrosiderite is an obsolete name and Chamosite is the correct species name. I only have the Hess label, but this specimen is also shown on the Arkenstone website and indicates it was from the historical garnet collection of SMITH COLLEGE, Northampton, Massachusetts and ex. Dr. Gary Hansen Collection.
T144 - Zektzerite Washington Pass, Okanogan Co., Washington, USA thumbnail - 1.3 x 0.9 x 0.9 cm ![]() ![]() Sharp single crystal of Zektzerite, a rare lithium, zirconium silicate. Pinkish tan in color with gemmy areas.
T208 - Apatite on Clinozoisite Alchuri, Shigar Valley, Skardu, Pakistan miniature - 3.7 x 2 x 1.3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Stacked tabular Apatite crystals grown around Clinozoisite crystals. Transparent, complete all around with glassy luster.
T215 - Vayrynenite Shengus, Skardu District, Pakistan thumbnail - 2.3 x 1.0 x 1.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Rare matrix specimen of Vayrynenite. Main crystal is a gemmy pink, double terminated, and 8mm in size. Attached to the base is a darker orangey red mineral, possibly Triplite.
T230 - Benitoite Gem Mine, San Benito Co., California large cabinet - 16 x 15 x 7.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Benitoite specimen with large front dispay face with approximately 50 Benitoite crystals, largest reaching 1.3 cm in size. Also present are numerous Neptunite and Djurleite crystals.
T235 - Wulfenite Kuruktag Mountains, Xinjiang Uygur Region, China large cabinet - 25 x 11 x 11 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large, vuggy specimen of Wulfenite on white Calcite. Tons of great crystals that have been well protected in the cavities.
T236 - Wulfenite Kuruktag Mountains, Xinjiang Uygur Region, China large cabinet - 20 x 12 x 8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Red/orange Wulfenite crystals that contrast well against the white Calcite coated matrix. One of the biggest and best I've ever had.
T296 - Tsavorite Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 1.9 x 1.2 x 1.2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Single Tsavorite crystal with intergrowths of Graphite. Complete all around though portions of the top and bottom are irregular where it grew with the Graphite. Great color and sharpness of form.
T465 - Chrysocolla psuedo. Malachite psuedo. Azurite with Wulfenite Whim Creek, Western Australia, Australia cabinet - 11.5 x 9 x 4.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Irridescent Goethite with crystals of the double psudomorph of Chrysocolla after Malachite after Azurite. Main crystal is well formed and 3.1cm. Matrix has an unidentified white mineral and small Wulfenite crystals. A tiny nick on the smallest crystal, otherwise undamaged.
NA457 - Malachite after Azurite Milpillas, Cananea Dist., Sonora, Mexico small cabinet - 6 x 4 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() Aesthetic cluster of velvety Malachite replacing Azurite. Very end of one tip missing, otherwise undamaged.
